Bangladesh High Court Stays Trial Proceedings Against AL President Sheikh Hasina

Bangladesh High Court has stayed trial proceedings against Awami League President Sheikh Hasina for three months in the MiG-29 purchase case.

The case was filed during the BNP-led four-party alliance rule.

The court also issued a rule for the government, Anti-Corruption Commission and trial court to explain within three weeks why framing charges against Hasina in her absence should not be declared illegal.

Sheikh Hasina’s lawyer Shafique Ahmed said his client had earlier been granted bail in the fighter purchase case.

Matiur Rahman Chowdhury has the details.
