Bangladesh prosecutors strongly opposed a bail request by Sheikh Hasina in High Court in an extortion case filed by businessman Noor Ali.
Counsel for Awami League President Hasina, barrister Rafique-ul-Huq was surprised by government’s move and accused the government of playing dubious role in giving bail to Sheikh Hasina in corruption cases.
Barrister Rafique said it jeopardizes the possible dialogue between the two former premiers. The dialogue is aimed at resolving the political crisis ahead of the next parliamentary elections.
Sheikh Hasina is presently on parole for treatment abroad.
