Bangladesh Adviser for Foreign Affairs Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, called for an "end to fighting" in Congo and urged all sides in the conflict "to put an end to the bitterness."
He called upon the governments of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo to work together to end the conflict.
Thousands of refugees from the fighting are gathering in the eastern Congolese city of Goma, and is becoming a cause for great concern to the United Nations, he added. "Bangladesh supports the positive role of the UN in the Democratic Republic of Congo", the Foreign Adviser said.
He also said Bangladesh has a large peace-keeping presence in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
