Bombs Kill At Least 67 in India's Assam State

Indian police say coordinated bombings in the country's northeastern state of Assam have killed at least 67 people and wounded more than 300.

At least 12 separate blasts ripped through outdoor markets and other crowded locations in four towns within an hour of each other Thursday. Roughly half the casualties were in Assam's capital, Guwahati.Authorities say one of the explosions was near a high-security complex including a courthouse. There has been no claim of responsibility.

India's Home Secretary, Madhukar Gupta says investigators will examine the explosive materials in an effort to identify who is responsible for the blasts. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh condemned the attacks, blaming divisive powers for attempting to break up the country. He called on the people of India to unite to fight terrorism.
