Professor Shahiduzzaman Analyzes President-elect Barack Obama’s Likely Foreign Policy


Professor Shahiduzzaman, from the Department of International Relations in Dhaka University said that he expects a major change in the US foreign policy during Barack Obama's regime.

In an exclusive interview with VOA on President-elect Barack Obama's possible foreign policy, Prof. Shahiduzzaman says that Obama will expedite the return of US soldiers from Iraq and would instead concentrate on Afghanistan.

When asked about Obama's relation with Pakistan, Professor Zaman says although the President-elect, during his election campaign has spoken tough words against Pakistan, eventually Pakistan would remain a key ally against terrorism in the region.

He foresees a solution to the Middle East problem. Professor Shahiduzzaman says that although the issue of outsourcing could be a matter of concern for India during Obama regime, but given the fact that India and US have signed a civilian Nuclear Energy, both the countries will enhance their relationship.
