The Sikkim state in the Himalayas is finally going to have a rail connection. The cost will be shared by the Sikkim government and the Central government.
The first train is likely to roll out in 2015-16. Sikkim had long been handicapped by just one road link with rest of the country. Its’ economy and also movement of armed forces to the China border was often handicapped by lack of a rail link.
