Bangladesh Lifts Ban on Political Meetings and Campaign Rallies


The military-backed government in Bangladesh, lifted the ban on political meetings and campaign rallies on Friday.

It says it will end the nearly two-year-old state of emergency on Wednesday.Bangladesh has been under emergency rule since January, 2007, when the military intervened to end months of political violence between the two parties. The December 29th election is designed to return the country to democratic rule.

Since the ban has been lifted political parties and campaign rallies, the leaders of the two main political parties and activists are campaigning in full swing.
