Bangladesh authorities in Dhaka have taken necessary measures after
having learnt from a private TV Channel in India that a Islamic terrorist group in
Bangladesh has been planning to
assassinate Sheikh Hasina.
The government sources in Bangladesh report on Saturday that a private
Indian Channel CNN-IBN says that Harkatul Jihad al Islami (HUJI) , a banned
Islamic militant group has planned to assassinate the former Prime Minister ,
who is also the head of Awami League , one of the two major parties contesting
parliamentary elections scheduled to be held on December 29. The sources say that they have taken this reported plot
very seriously. But they did not elaborate on measures they have taken.
CNN-IBN, quoting Indian intelligence, said on Saturday that HUJI has
trained a six member suicide squad to take an attempt on Hasina’s life. The
news says that Indian intelligence has already cautioned Hasina on this matter.
But the Indian embassy in Dhaka has not commented on this. Government, however,
has deployed Special Security Force (SSF) for Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia,
the two former prime ministers of Bangladesh.
