Dr Asif Nazrul is
the Professor of Law in Dhaka University and a constitutional expert who brings the understanding of legal practices to
general people. Dr Nazrul is also a political analyst.
In this exclusive
interview with VOA Bangla Service , Dr Asif Nazrul talks about the promises and
the challenges of the Upcoming government which , it is assumed , would take
oath in a couple of day’s time .
Asif Nazrul sees the challenges for Awami League
as their opportunities too. He says it all depends how Awami League, while
running the government will take the full opportunity. He, however, adds as the
expectations are large, it will also depend on expectation management. This unveils
an opportunity for them and with 3/4th majority in the parliament
they can go after corruptions and establish good governance .
Nazrul also says that the trial of War Criminals does not require any
amendments in the constitution so the new government, under the leadership of
Sheikh Hasina can go ahead with the trials of War Criminals. He, however, adds
that such trials should not be widespread , it should be more symbolic and the prominent
war criminals should be brought to justice . Asif Nazrul also said that the
decision to make Zillur Rahman as the next President of Bangladesh has been
taken in recognition to his contributions to the party.
