A new chapter in the US history begins with the administration of Barak Obama, the first African American President of the United States. The South Asian nations along with the whole world are eagerly waiting to see the changes the new administration will bring. Worldwide economic recession and terrorism are some of the concerns of South Asia. Many feel US as a super power has certain responsibility for maintaining regional peace and stability in South Asia.

The topic of today’s Hello Washington is “The New US President Barak Obama: South Asia’s Expectation.”

Today’s guests were Prof. Om Prakash Mishra, Dr. Sreeradha Datta and Dr. Zillur Rahman Khan.

Prof. Om Prakash Mishra is Pro-Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University in New Delhi, India. He is also the Secretary of Global India Foundation, a think tank in New Delhi, India.

Dr. Sreeradha Datta is a Research Fellow at Institute of Defense Studies (IDS), New Delhi, India.

Dr. Zillur Rahman Khan, an eminent political scientist is a Rosebush Professor Emeritus - University of Wisconsin, USA.

Asim Chakrabarti hosted the show.
