Professor Tapan Raychaudhuri is Emeritus Fellow, St. Antony's College, Oxford. Professor Raychaudhuri retired as Professor of Indian History and Civilization, University of Oxford.
In addition to papers in scholarly journals, Professor Raychaudhuri has published Bengal under Akbar and Jahangir; Jan Company in Coromandel, with Irfan Habib; The Cambridge Economic History of India, Vol. I; Europe Reconsidered: Perception of the West in Nineteenth Century Bengal; Perceptions, Emotions, Sensibilities: Essay on India's Colonial and Post-colonial Experiences and Ramanthan athoba bhimratir prapto parrocharit charca (Bengali).
He has been awarded Padmabhushan by the government of India .
