Bangladesh held its 3rd Upazila Parishad election on Thursday, 22nd of January amid tight security. Over 8,000 people contested in 480 Upazila Parishads. After 18 years 73 million voters elected chairman and vice chairman in the in the local governments.

Dr. Mizanur Rahman Shelley, is a noted political analyst, thinker, litterateur, writer and social scientist. He is the founder Chairman of Centre for Development Research, Bangladesh (CDR-B), Overseas Director, American Institute of Bangladesh Studies (AIBS) and Editor of quarterly “Asian Affairs”.
Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah is Chairman of the National Election Observation Council (JANIPOP) in Bangladesh and Chairman of the Department of Public Administrations in Dhaka University.
Dr. Ali Riaz is the Chairman of the Department of Politics and Government at Illinois State University.
Professor Riaz, prior to joining Illinois State University taught at Claflin University in South Carolina, and the University of Lincoln in England.
