Opposition BNP
leader Khaleda Zia has accused the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
of beginning to back out from its election pledges to the people and the
peasants.
She said that
the ruling party had during electioneering had promised to sell rice at Tk 10
per kg, supply free fertilizer to farmers and provide employment to one member
of each family.
Khaleda said these while
addressing wayside rallies at Kodda crossing and Hatikumrul in Sirajganj on her
way to Bogra yesterday.
The former prime minister, whose
BNP-led alliance suffered its worst election defeat in last month's elections,
alleged that the government had also deviated from its commitment to offer the
post of Deputy Speaker to the opposition.
Referring to the new government's
reported deal with India, the former Prime Minister said that Hasina's
government should not do anything that might force the opposition to return to
street from parliament to ventilate their grievances.
