Ramendu Majumder is a pioneer pesonality of the Group Theater Movement in Bangladesh. He is also the Worldwidwide President of International Theater Institute. Ramendu Majumder has been awarded Ekushey Padak for 2009.
In an interview with Voice of America, Ramendu talks about his own theatrical experience, narrates the evolution of group theatre in Bangladesh. He says that from a leisure past time, theatre activities in Bangladesh gradually evolved into a professional matter.
People in Bangladesh, after the Liberation War in 1971 began watching theatre on regular basis. Ramendu Majumder says that despite the challenges, Drama in Bangladesh has gone through tremendous development. He hopes to give his Drama Training School a more professional shape by adding a Studio if he gets to build a separate building.
