Callers from Malaysia, Bangladesh, India, Amsterdam asked about the plights of South Asian and Filipino, Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia, Indonesia, Middle East. How and who can take care of the interests of migrant workers, who are being cheated by the recruiting agencies in their own countries, as well as the employers abroad.
Panel advised - the deprived workers
may seek the assistance of their respective Embassy, call the attention of
Amnesty International and local media.
Panel also stressed the
importance of Awareness building, publicity campaign, and said - only
government cannot control these agencies, nor stop unskilled laborers going
abroad in search of better future, but government of respective countries
should enforce strict rules to stop exploitation of human resources .
Many Bangladeshi workers from Malaysia called and explained their hopeless,
inhuman situation.
