Round Table Discussions on BDR Mutiny Focuses ex BDR Men Joining the Militants


A round table discussion was arranged in Dhaka jointly by a non government organization on Security & Defense , Bangladesh Institute for Peace & Security Studies and English Daily , Bangladesh Today.

The speakers in the round table discussion considered the BDR Mutiny is a huge threat to the security of Bangladesh. They have said that nearly 2700 BDR Jawans have not returned yet and a huge ammunitions are still unaccounted for . The round table was participated by some former Major Generals, including General Muhammad Ibrahim, Genaral Rezzakul Haider and General Amin Ahmed Chowdhury.

The head of the Bangladesh Institute for Peace & Security Studies Major General (Retd) Muniruzzaman said that the Security threat will come from the fugitive jawans who might join different militant organizations. The militants usually look for trained armed personnel.

However, the discussants at the Round Table Discussion criticized the government versions that militancy is on increase in Bangladesh. .
