Communications Minister Syed Abul
Hossain said on Sunday at a roundtable
that a high-powered committee would be formed within 7 days to find out the
existing misappropriation and corruption in road transport system.
He also said the system of paying
the fees, tax and other bills, which are paid to Bangladesh Road Transport
Authority (BRTA) will be managed to pay by Online Banking within six months.
He was addressing a roundtable as
chief guest with Chairman of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Prof
Muzaffar Ahmed in the chair.
TIB organized the roundtable on
'BRTA in Road Transport System of Bangladesh & Contribution of Stakeholder:
Problem and Solution' at the National Press Club in the city.
The minister said that necessary
initiatives have been taken to moderate 'The Motor Vehicles Amendment Act' and
it will be implemented properly.
Admitting existence of corruption
in transport sector, the Minister said the communication ministry is committed
to ensure qualified and skilled manpower in BRTA.
Executive Director of TIB Dr
Iftekharuzzaman moderated the program, while MP Shajahan Khan Communications
Secretary ASM Ali Kabir, BRTA Chairman Kamrul Hasan, attended at the program as
special guest.
