45 Women Members of Parliament in Bangladesh Take Oath

A total of 45 legislators for the reserved seats of women took oath on Sunday at the oath-taking room of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS-Parliament).

In accordance with their strength in the House, the ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance got 36 seats, the opposition BNP five seats and Jatiya Party (Ershad) four women seats in the ninth Jatiya Sangsad.
Speaker M Abdul Hamid Advocate administered the oath of the women lawmakers, who were elected unopposed, in two sessions in the morning.

Talking to reporters at the JS Bhaban after taking oath, some ruling party women MPs expressed their conviction to strengthen the Jatiya Sangsad with their active participation in the House and also strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to effectively run the government but the opposition legislators said that they would come up with constructive criticism.
