President Barack Obama after attending the NATO and European Union summits will visit Ankara and Istanbul as part of his European tour. He will be there on April 6th and 7th.
Experts in Dhaka see President Obama’s upcoming Turkey visit as a sign of positive engagement with the Muslim world.
In an interview with Voice of America, Ambassador Muhammad Zamir said that selecting Turkey is a good decision because it is a secular Muslim country, and in addition it has relations with Israel.
He said that present Obama administration has shown its readiness to have better relations with Muslim world. Muslim world is also eagerly waiting to see how this government will end Palestine, Pakistan and Afghan crisis. Ambassador Zamir also said that showing positive engagement with Iran is also constructive.
Muhammad Zamir is a former ambassador of Bangladesh in many countries including some Muslim countries in the Middle East. He is also a former head of OIC political division.
