The Indian Army, the custodian of the Calcutta Maidan, has told the Kolkata High Court that it will not allow the use of the Maidan to the ruling CPM`s young wing, Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) .
They say that the youth wing of the ruling communist party has failed to keep the greens clean during a rally, as directed by the court.
Environmentalists in the Indian state of West Bengal have been lobbying for keeping the Maidan free from rallies.
