Bangladesh Parliament Speaker Abdul Hamid Urges the Opposition Not to Boycott Parliament  Over an Extra-parliamentary Issue


BNP, the main opposition party in Bangladesh threatened to boycott the Parliament in protest of government’s notice served to the chief, Begum Khaleda Zia to leave her Dhaka cantonment house.

Bangladesh national parliament Speaker Abdul Hamid on Friday in Dhaka said Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) should not stay away from parliament over an extra-parliamentary issue.

He said that the ruling and opposition parties will have to work together to continue with the democratic process.

BNP lawmaker Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury has recently warned of a parliament boycott after the government served a notice on opposition leader Khaleda Zia on Apr 20 to vacate the mansion, which she got on a lease.
