High Temperature Blamed for Low Voter Turnout in India’s Election


Of the 15 parliamentary elections in India, only four including the current one, are being held during peak summer.

All summer polls have low voter turnout. Campaigning is also difficult when temperature is between 40 and 45 degree Celsius. Whether election should be held in winter is being considered.
