Bangladesh Standard Time (BST) has been set advancing the clock by one hour at 11:00 PM ton Friday.
The BST adjustment has increased the difference with Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) to 7 hours from 11 on Friday.When implemented for the first time in the country, one can work for an hour more in the daylight after the present office timing of 9 am to 5 pm.
State Minister for Power, Advocate Shamsul Haq Tuku said that it will save the nation 300-megawatt electricity daily,The cabinet at a meeting on June 1 took the decision for saving the electricity by using sunlight up to September.
After reviewing the daytime between the sunrise and the sunset in September next, further steps will be taken on time adjustment.A total of 70 countries representing the developing and developed world are following the time adjustment for saving the costly fuel.
