Talks between the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) and the
Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) regarding a recent spate of border killings ended on Tuesday.
The BSF proposed that the Indo-Bangladesh border be managed
jointly in line with the current practice between many European nations. This will
help curb border crime, argued the Indians at the conference with their Bangladeshi
counterparts in Dhaka.
BSF Chief ML Kumawat also asserted that the majority of the 64
instances where unarmed Bangladeshis were killed near the border occurred at
night when border crossing is illegal.
India is also working on installing flood lights along the
border to enhance security.
