The Anti-Corruption Commission
has been requested by a parliamentary body on Wednesday to sue former shipping
advisor Major General MA Matin and others for enabling container deal at
Chittagong Port. The corruption allegations came after an enquiry was
carried out by the shipping ministry.The committee requested that the
container handling deal be canceled and compensation must be made in exchange.
Other individuals charged in the
corruption case are former shipping Secretary Sheikh Motahar Hossain, Chairman
of the Chittagong Port Reazuddin Ahmed, and Ehsanul Kabir, Director of
Although there is no evidence
that bribes were taken, but evidence against Mohatar Hossain was found.The tender that was given did
not comply with government rules and moreover, no meetings were held by the
Chittagong Port Authority did not have any meetings regarding this deal before
it was approved.
