Bangladesh
government on Wednesday announced the
new pay scale for civil servants, armed forces and judicial services with
effect from July this year.
According to the new pay scale, the lowest basic pay will be Taka 4,100 from
the present Taka 2,400 for the grade 20 when a grade 1 official will draw the
highest ceiling of the pay scale of Taka 41,000 a month.
"All government officials and employees will get their salaries under
the new pay scale from July this year, but they will get all other benefits
from July next year," Minister for Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith
told reporters while announcing the new pay scale at the Prime Minister's
Office (PMO).
Earlier, the much-awaited new pay scale was approved by the cabinet at its
meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
All the public servants under the existing 20 grades will get all other
benefits at the rate of 30 per cent of their basic pay.
The Finance Minister said the pay scale would be implemented in two phases in
line with the proposal made by the pay commission.
