Visually Impaired IT Workers Speak to VOA  


This report is based on coverage of a meeting with the members and students and teachers of the Institute of Hazrat Muhammad . It may be mentioned here that the institute runs several programs for visually impaired people.

These programs include English Language Training, Computer Skills Building, essay competitions to promote the visually impaired to express their concerns, lecture sessions on the rights of the disabled etc.

In this program Khairul Azam, a vision impaired college graduate IT teacher of the Institute and Rahima Patwari, a student of Dhaka University, who participated in a program at the Institute for the Vision impaired IT – explained their social problems and said, “ if we are given proper opportunity and recognition by the employers, we can prove our ability to work as any other normal person. Government and non-government offices should understand our plight.”
