After returning to Bangladesh from the Copenhagen Climate Conference, Dr. Hasan Mahmud, State Minister for forest and environment, declared at a press conference that Bangladesh has achieved success. The participants of the summit have admitted that Bangladesh is indeed in a vulnerable position due to climate change.
Dr. Hasan Mahmud also said that Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh played a significant role at the Climate Conference to ensure that Bangladesh and the other vulnerable countries would receive sufficient adaptation fund. This means that Bangladesh can expect to receive compensation in order to deal with the harms of climate change.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her satisfaction about the outcome of the Copenhagen Summit and the consensus that has been reached. Dr. Hasan Mahmud shares the same reaction and agrees with her feelings regarding the dangers of climate change and the proposed plan to combat it.
