The original constitution of
Bangladesh which was promulgated on November 4, 1972 went through several
amendments over last thirty seven years. Many of those amendments were not done
by popular governments in Bangladesh. Recently discussions are being held about
returning to the original 1972 constitution with bringing in some more
amendments. One of the features of 1972 Constitution is Secularism.
The present government in Bangladesh , led by Bangladesh
Awami League originally promulgated the constitution in 1972.
