A bus carrying 48 passengers fell into a roadside ditch in Bandarban on Friday leaving 5 people dead. Another 14 are in critical condition.
When the bus caught fire, Happy Rani Barua, Shova Barua, and bus driver Badi Alam were burned to death on the spot. Rupun Barua and Milon Barua died in the hospital.
A passenger said that around 11 am, the driver lost control over the steering wheel when it reached Kashempara. When the bus went off the road and fell into a ditch, its CNG cylinder exploded and the vehicle caught on fire.
The police, fire fighters, and army soon reached the spot and took the injured to three different hospitals to begin treatment.
