In the two-day talks between Bangladesh and Burma, Bangladesh proposed demarcation of the sea boundary based on equity. These talks began Friday at 9:30 am at Hotel Agrabad in the port city.

Two teams from both countries, each consisting of 13 members, are participating in the meeting in order to resolve this dispute over the sea boundary between Bangladesh and Burma.

The Burma delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Burma U Maung Myint while Additional Foreign Secretary of United Nations Convention on Law of the Seas Rear Retired Admiral Md Khurshed Alam headed the Bangladesh team.

"Bangladesh wants to demarcate the sea boundary on the basis of equity while Burma insists on equidistance method," said Khurshed Alam. The delegation members informed the journalists that Bangladesh will try to settle this dispute through talks with both Burma and India.
