In an interview with VOA, Professor Rafiqul Islam speaks about the historical photographs that he took with his German camera during the 1952 Language Movement in Bangladesh. He also speaks about the other photojournalists who captured other significant moments of the time.
The photographs will be displayed by the Bangla Academy in the new museum that they are building to honor the language movement. Professor Rafiqul Islam hopes that these photographs will give the youth of today an idea of what revolution used to be.
Professor Rafiqul Islam is a linguist, researcher, and ardent teacher of Bangla language and literature. After his retirement from Dhaka University, he became the Vice Chancellor of University of Liberal Arts in Dhaka. He has been a photographer for almost ten years and has since taken many historical photographs.
