At around 10 am on Thursday, a group of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly entered about 50 meter inside the Bangladesh territory near the border of Jaintapur and kidnapped a member of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) from the border in Sylhet. They fired shots first that possibly injured him.
A meeting was held on the Tamabil border that lies between India and Bangladesh. Lt Col Khadaker Zahirul Alam, Commanding Officer of 21 Rifles Battalion led the BDR delegation while S Tirki, Commander of BSF spoke for his side. BSF also handed back the abducted BDR border guard, Navek Mujibur Rahman after the meeting and said that there has been a misunderstanding between the two parties.
