Recently, several student clashes have broken out at universities in Bangladesh. Dhaka University and now Rajshahi University have faced such violence carried out in the name of politics. This has left several students injured and even dead.
In an interview with VOA Correspondent in Dhaka, Amir Khasru, Professor Dr. Sirajul Islam Chowdhury gives his reaction about the state of student politics in Bangladesh. He said that it’s not politics at all; these are power games between different student parties. International conflict, unemployment, and lack of government intervention are major reasons behind this kind of violence. Political analyst Dr. Mizanur Rahman Shelley said that student politics has taken a negative turn. Students and students disguised as students are fighting among themselves and bringing shame for the country.
