Former Footballer Salahuddin on Pele and Maradona


In an interview with VOA, Kazi Salahuddin speaks about his long football career, his current role as the President of Bangladesh Football Federation, and his goals to promote football in Bangladesh.

Kazi Salahuddin dominated the football scene of Bangladesh as a gifted striker in the 70s and 80s. In 1971, he joined the Shadhin Bangla football team which played charity football in order to contribute to the war funds. From 1972 to 1984, he played for Abahoni, and within this period, he also played in Hong Kong for two seasons. Now, as the President of the Football Federation, he tries to inspire young footballers and gets them involved in interschool and district level tournaments.

Kazi Salahuddin also evaluates football legends like Maradona and Pele and says that Maradona is the best football player that the world has ever witnessed.
