In West Bengal, many Hindus and a large number of Muslims are unhappy over the government’s decision to reserve jobs for Muslims who fall under the category of Other Backwards Classes or OBC.
It was expected that Hindu residents will be dissatisfied with this decision, but the government did not expect so many Muslims to come out and say that job reservation laws should be implemented to help the whole Muslim community instead of the small percentage that most of them don’t fall under.
Seeing how CPM lost in the election partially because of the lack of votes from Muslims, the West Bengal government is now trying to reach out to Muslims. But unfortunately, their intention is not proving to be successful.
