Unrest prevails as protests take over Rangamati following the torching of indigenous villages in a remote area of Rangamati hill district. Clashes took place between the indigenous people and the settler communities at Baghaihat. Following this clash, two bodies with bullet wounds were recovered.
Indigenous leaders, local human rights groups, the international CHT Commission have appealed for justice. Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) appealed to the Prime Minister for a parliamentary probe into this matter that took place on the 19th and 20th of February.
Several organizations are holding demonstrations in protest. Buddhist monks also took part in a demonstration and they submitted a separate memorandum to the Prime Minister demanding investigation.
