The High Court has declared three corruption charges against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina illegal. All three suits were in connection with the construction of Bangabandhu Novo Theatre accusing the Prime Minister of Bangladesh of corruption.
During the rule of the four party alliance led by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), the Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAC) filed the cases. Later, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) took up the cases.
The High Court said that these cases were filed with the purpose of hurting the image of Sheikh Hasina. It was used to destroy her popularity and they do not hold a strong ground.
