Bangladesh will be gifting a replica of a boat that Rabindranath Tagore used in the 1890s to Rabindra Bhaban in West Bengal on the occasion of Tagore`s 150th birth anniversary. Tagore used this boat to travel along the Padma River in Bangladesh during a period of intense literary activity in his life.
Rabindra Bhaban is a wing of Visva Bharati, the institution which has been keeping the poet’s heritage alive for years. So Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, decided to send this replica to honor his life and be a part of the celebration.
The replica is five to seven feet in length and consists of a dining room and bedroom.
