Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh is leaving for a four-day visit to China. Former Ambassador of China Ashfaqur Rahman spoke to VOA about this trip.
Ashfaqur Rahman said that this visit is important since China is an important business partner for Bangladesh. He also said that this visit is important to both countries because of its geo-political significance.
In the upcoming tour, the Prime Minister plans to ask for Beijing’s support to build two railway tracks to connect Dhaka with Cox’s Bazar through Chittagong. She also hopes to get funds to build rail tracks from Cox’s Bazar up to Myanmar border.
The Prime Minister’s trip will begin on Wednesday.
