Bangladesh and China have pledged to strengthen bilateral ties, including in trade, investments and infrastructure projects.
The two countries announced the plan Friday in a joint statement, released after visiting Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held talks with China's President Hu Jintao.
Earlier Friday, Prime Minister Hasina told the China-Bangladesh Business Forum she welcomed Chinese investments in areas including energy, communications and health care. She also sought Chinese assistance in constructing a sea port in the city of Chittagong.
Prime Minister Hasina is on a five-day visit to China, her first official trip to the country since taking office last year.
On Thursday, representatives of the two countries signed agreements on technology, infrastructure and the economy after she held talks with her Chinese counterpart, Wen Jaibo.
The accords include a framework agreement on building a fertilizer factory in Bangladesh as well as an agreement on a road and bridge project in the country.
