Human Right Activist Shahriar Kabir says War Crime Trial will Not be Politically Motivated


Shahriar Kabir, a prominent Human Rights Activist in Bangladesh and one of the leading personalities demanding the trial of War Crime in Bangladesh, who is now visiting US, in a brief interview with VOA Bangla Service, gives his views and comments on the process of the trial, which begins from today.

In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service Shahriar Kabir says that they are happy that after nearly four decades finally the War Criminals in Bangladesh are being brought to Justice. Shahriar suggests that the team of prosecutors and investigators need to be expanded because gathering information and evidences of War Crime, is going to be a very big task. He hopes that a major portion of the trial will be over by the end of the present government's term and says that major war criminals can easily be identified on the basis of evidence available.

Shahriar Kabir refutes the claims of BNP and Jamaat'e Islami that the cases may be politically motivated. He says that only the alleged War Criminals will be tried irrespective of their party affiliations. He also says that people who became members of Jama'ati Islami after 1971 has nothing to fear from this trial.
