On Saturday, Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram will review the anti-Maoist operation in West Bengal's Lalgarh and other areas with Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee when he visits Calcutta. Chidambaram plans to return to Delhi on Sunday.
He also wants to visit Lalgarh, but the government of West Bengal thinks it is risky for him to visit the area because of security reasons. The review comes seven weeks after Chidambaram finalized the blueprint of the inter-state Operation Greenhunt at a meeting with four Maoist-affected eastern states - West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and Jharkhand.
