War Crime Issues cannot be Compromised to Appease the Oppositions: Menon

Rashed Khan Menon , a member of National Parliament from Bangladesh recently was in Washington to participate in a workshop on labor skill sponsored by the World Bank . Menon , the head of Workers’ Party , which is a part of the ruling coalition is also the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on education.

In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service, Rashed Khan Menon talks about the need for skill and trainings for the workers who go abroad because a sizeable amount of remittance come from these laborers working abroad. Menon blames the major opposition party for their failure to participate in the parliament on issue based matters.

He says that non parliamentary behavior is never welcomed and although there are places where compromise can be done but again issues like the trial of the War Criminals of 1971 cannot be compromised to appease the opposition. Menon , however , agrees that a lot more constructive effort is needed and rivalries of the past should be put aside. He, hopes, that the Upozilla Chairmen would be given adequate authorities to develop their respective areas.
