On Wednesday, Bangladesh celebrated Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bengali calendar. People from all around the country welcomed Baishakh, the first month of the year.
The city was filled with colors as processions, fairs, and cultural programs were carried out. The center of attraction was the cultural program of Chhayanaut which takes place every year at Ramna Batamul. The musical program consisted of patriotic songs that warmed the hearts of crowd.
The three-day program of Shilpakala Academy began on Wednesday. Shishu Academy, Bangla Academy and Sonargaon Crafts Foundation organized traditional Baishakhi fairs. All the celebrations took place under tight security.
