Politician Siddiqullah Choudhury Argues For 20 Per Cent Quota for Muslims in West Bengal

Siddiqullah Choudhury is a veteran politician from West Bengal, India. He is the West Bengal State Chairman of one of India's small political parties 'Peoples Democratic Conference of India'- PDCI.

He is also the West Bengal state General Secretary of the largest Muslim religious organization of India, Jamiatul Ulame Hind.

In an interview with Voice of America’s Bangla Service, Siddiqullah Choudhury spoke about the 30 percent Muslims who live in West Bengal. West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya recently announced in Maldah about 10 percent of state government employment being reserved for Muslims in the state.

Mr. Choudhury said that 20 percent of jobs should be reserved for minority Muslims. He feels that this 20 per cent quota should also be in business, education and public utilities sector. He said that the Muslim community of West Bengal has launched a campaign to achieve their goal.
