Despite uneasy relations between India and China, the Chinese government has taken up a number of programs to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. It includes translating 28 volumes of the writings of Tagore, the Nobel laureate from West Bengal.
West Bengal is bringing out a collection of Tagore’s paintings and carrying out year-long celebrations in all district headquarters and universities. The governments of India and Bangladesh have participated in talks to organize his birth anniversary celebrations jointly.
