Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid emphasis on good relations between owners and workers to create a peaceful working atmosphere in the industrial sector, saying that owners will have to be sympathized to the workers, while the workers will have to be responsible for protecting the industry.

Addressing a May Day discussion arranged by the Labor and Employment Ministry at the Osmani Memorial Hall, she termed the
present-government as the labor-friendly and said that her
government has undertaken various steps for the welfare of the
workers.

To this end, the Prime Minister mentioned enhancing retirement age of the public sector workers to 60 from 57, formation of the permanent wage commission and minimum wage board, establishment of the workers welfare foundation and formulation of code of conduct to protect rights and ensure welfare of the workers.
Referring to the recent unrest in the country's garment sector, Sheikh Hasina said that the third party is involved in the disturbance. She said the government has already got some names of the
instigators and the government is inquiring about them.

Calling upon the instigators to refrain from such
activities, Sheikh Hasina warned that those who will damage the
government will not be spared.

She urged both owners and workers to remain alert about the troublemakers of the garment sector.
