Bangladesh opposition party BNP’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia addressed a grand rally in Rajshahi. She said that the Awami League-led government has turned the judiciary into a partisan establishment.
She also said the current administration is a failure and urged all to get ready for an anti-government movement. The former Prime Minister also blamed the government for not taking adequate measures to create labor market.
Meanwhile, according to police, one person has been killed and more than 100 others injured in clashes between the country's ruling party members and opposition supporters. Authorities say a group of Awami League party activists blocked a convoy of vehicles carrying opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party supporters to a rally on Wednesday.
Police say several homes were burned and vehicles damaged during the hour-long confrontation in the town of Singra, about 150 kilometers northwest of the capital, Dhaka. Police used tear gas to bring the situation under control.
