On Wednesday, at least ten people died when a trawler capsized in the Meghna river in northeastern Kishoreganj district of Bangladesh. The bodies were recovered on Thursday. Seven people are still missing.
The bodies were found stuck in the hull when the trawler was pulled to shore after three cargo vessels went to rescue. The relatives of the missing passengers have been searching for the bodies along the banks of Meghna and Dhaleswari rivers.
The district administration has offered to donate Tk 3,000 to the families of each victim to cover burial expenses. In addition, MP Afzal Hossain has donated Tk 5,000 to the families.
